Laser Removal

At Alchemy Cosmedics, we specialise in advanced laser tattoo removal, offering safe, expert treatment of cosmetic tattoos, including brows, eyeliner, and lip blush. These delicate areas require advanced knowledge, precision, and specialist training — and very few UK clinics are qualified or willing to treat them.

We are very proud to be one of the only providers in the UK confidently offering safe lip and eyeliner tattoo removal, thanks to our specialist training, clinical protocols, and a deep understanding of pigment behaviour in delicate facial areas.

How does it work?

We use Q-switched ND:YAG laser technology, known for its precision and safety in removing both permanent makeup (PMU) and small body tattoos.

The laser works by emitting short, high-energy pulses of light that are absorbed by the tattoo pigment in the skin. This causes the pigment to break down into microscopic particles. Over time, your body naturally clears these fragments through the lymphatic system, gradually fading the tattoo with each session.

While some lightening can be visible straight away due to a temporary frosting effect, full results develop progressively over several weeks. Multiple sessions are usually required, and results depend on the type of pigment, its depth in the skin, and your immune system.

Our ND:YAG laser is highly effective on black, blue, and brown tones, and can also target colours like red and orange, with the appropriate settings. We specialise in safely treating delicate and often misunderstood areas such as lips and eyeliner, using medically approved eye protection and tailored protocols to ensure safe and effective removal.

Who is it for?

Laser tattoo removal is suitable for most healthy adults over 18 who are not pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, or on medications that affect skin healing or sensitivity to light. We will go through a full medical screening before your appointment to assess suitability and any potential risks.

Why choose us?

At Alchemy Cosmedics, we are true specialists in permanent makeup, offering expert services in both the creation of beautiful, bespoke cosmetic enhancements and the safe, effective fading or removal of unwanted pigment.

What truly sets us apart is our collaborative approach: every client benefits from the combined expertise of Abi, our expert Permanent Makeup Artist, and Gab, our dedicated Laser Technician. Together, we carefully assess each case and guide you through every step of your journey — from initial consultation and treatment planning to aftercare — ensuring you receive personalised advice tailored to your unique needs.

We chase results, not reactions.

Many laser treatments out there can cause unnecessary trauma, including excessive swelling, blistering and scarring. At Alchemy Cosmedics, we prioritise a gentle and precise technique that effectively targets pigment while minimising discomfort and damage to the skin. Our approach is focused on achieving the best possible results without causing avoidable side effects, ensuring a safer and more comfortable experience for every client.

While complete removal cannot be guaranteed, we are committed to achieving the best possible results safely and effectively. Whether you are looking to fade and upgrade your existing permanent makeup or fully remove cosmetic tattoos, or small body tattoos, we provide honest, realistic expectations and professional care.

How many sessions are required?

The amount of treatments required depends on many factors including how long the tattoo has been there, how many times it has been treated, how deep the pigment/ink has been implanted, the ability of the bodies immune system, as well as your desired 'end goal' results.

After a thorough consultation, and a full skin renewal cycle, we will be able to advise how many sessions we predict will be needed. On average, it could be anywhere from 1-8 sessions for PMU and 8-12 sessions for body tattoos.

Treatments are typically spaced 4-8 weeks apart (PMU) and 10-12 weeks apart (body tattoos) to allow the skin and lymphatic system time to recover.

Does it hurt?

Some discomfort, often described as a short snapping sensation, can be expected - only during the treatment itself.

The treatment is very quick, and we use cooling numbing methods to keep you comfortable throughout. Typically only mild warmth is experienced after the treatment, where we advise periodic icing throughout the following hours.

PMU Laser Prep

• Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, or spray tans for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Tanned skin increases the risk of burns and complications. Please wear SPF on and surrounding the treatment area.

• Do not use self-tanning products on the treatment area for 2 weeks before your appointment.

• Avoid using products containing retinol, AHA, BHA, or other exfoliating acids on the treatment area for at least 1 month prior.

• Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements (e.g., aspirin, warfarin, ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, omega-3/fish oil, vitamin E) for 7 days prior, unless prescribed by a doctor. Always consult your GP before stopping any medication. If you do take any of these medications, you must advise us.

• Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours before treatment.

• Ensure you are well-hydrated and have eaten prior to your appointment to help reduce sensitivity.

• Remove any makeup and cleanse the treatment area gently, but thoroughly,

on the day of your appointment.

• Avoid waxing, threading, or plucking hairs in the treatment area for 1 week before treatment.

• If you are prone to cold sores or skin irritation in the area to be treated, please notify us in advance.

• You can expect an element of swelling and will need to spend some time icing the area, so we advise to avoid planning any important social or work events immediately after the treatment.

Eyebrows Removal

• No tinting or dyeing your eyebrows for 2 weeks before treatment.

•No eyebrow lamination for 4 weeks prior.

• Do not wax, thread, or tweeze the brows for 1 week prior.

• Ensure the brow area is clean and free of makeup on the day of treatment.

Eyeliner Removal

• Have any eyelash extensions or false lashes professionally removed at least 5 days before your appointment.

• If you wear contact lenses, please remove them before your treatment and wear your glasses instead.

• Do not use lash growth serum for at least 4 weeks before your appointment.

• If you have had eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty, please ensure at least 12 months have passed since the procedure.

• Inform us if you have any history of any eye infections, cysts or styes.

Lip Blush Removal

• Avoid lipstick, lip balms (other than plain, non-active balms), or lip gloss on the day of treatment.

• Avoid lip stains, or drying matte effect lip sticks for 1 week prior.

• Be prepared to use gentle lip balms post-treatment to maintain hydration.

PMU Laser Aftercare

Your skin’s healing is just as important as the treatment itself. We’ll guide you through every step — including comprehensive aftercare support tailored to your treatment area.

Following your laser tattoo removal, you can expect some temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity. These are completely normal and part of your skin’s natural healing response.

To support a smooth recovery:

  • On the day - apply a cold compress intermittently to soothe swelling

  • Keep the area clean and dry for the first few days

  • Avoid touching, picking, or rubbing the area

  • Avoid heat, including saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for 48 hours

  • Do not expose the area to the sun or sunbeds — protect with clothing and use high SPF

  • Skip makeup or skincare on the treated area until the skin has fully settled

  • In the rare instance that any blisters or scabbing occur, do not pop or pick — allow the skin to heal naturally

What to expect:

  • The tattoo may appear lighter immediately (this is known as "frosting") but will darken again before fading

  • With body tattoos, the pigment may initially appear more visible after the first few sessions. This is due to the breakdown of the natural glycolic layer in the skin, which normally diffuses light and softens the appearance of the tattoo. As this layer disperses, the pigment can appear clearer before it begins to fade.

  • Fading continues over the following 4–12 weeks and beyond.

  • Some clients may experience mild itching or warmth — this is normal and temporary

  • We recommend avoiding any new tattoos or PMU in the area for at least 8 weeks

We’ll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions following your appointment. If you have questions or concerns during your healing process, you can always contact us — we’re here to help.
